Sand Creek Heritage Secular Pilgrimage
Take a one-day heritage secular pilgrimage to the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site in CO.
Service Description
Take a one-day heritage secular pilgrimage to the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site in CO. The Sand Creek Massacre Historic Site was where the encampment by the Big Sandy Creek of 500 Arapaho and Cheyenne people were attacked by 700 federal troops in 1864. This site holds the memory of a darker time in Colorado history; by honoring the events, we work to acknowledge and heal from this history. This heritage secular pilgrimage will include transportation to and from the site in southeast Colorado, a tour of the Sand Creek Massacre grounds, conversations about the history and stories of the site, three shared meals, and a ritual ceremony.
